Some Links For Social Studies Teaching

Some links for teaching peace.

I would use this in a lesson about putting the Bush II regime in context. Just how were things before and after in terms of climate policy, investment, trade, equality... Mother Jones has an awful lot of resources.

This is a weekly that focusses mostly on American foreign and domestic policy. You will find lots about education here. They reference other news sources such as NYT and WSJ.

Here you will find not only daily news headlines which are great for generating discussion in early classes but also daily interviews that may last 10 minutes, or two hours. Utilize the search bar to find specifics like Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Maude Barlow. Global news, domestic issues, how the world views US policy.

Complete with lesson plans, activities for music critique, videos of anti-war activities and performances. A lot of resources here for and from Canadians.

Dozens of examples of how young students in the Republic of America are organizing and speaking out against the militarization of their society, war and occupation. Also data concerning military policy. Some context anyway to compare against the Canadian examples.
