"I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It's dead, that's what's wrong with it."

A bit ago, I talked about how to inject a bit of humour into our social studies classroom. Always keeping this in mind, I ran across this article:

Ancient Greeks pre-empted Dead Parrot sketch

It's stories like this which allows us to connect the histories we teach in our social studies classroom to popular culture. You can point out how humour is a continuum - the fact is, we've been laughing about sex, dimwits, nagging wives and flatulence since the beginning of time.
