Music and Social Studies

Just thinking back over Jasons lesson on the use of music to teach and inspire stuents in the classroom, why is it that it is rarely used? I don't know if this is true to all areas of education but during my schooling we were never exposed to music. The only lesson I can think of where music was used was in the Battle of Hastings and the bayeux tapestry. We actually had to sing in one of the lessons and the words still haunt me to this day---well more so the pitch in which the teacher sang. That was many moons ago and I still remember it, so I believe we should try to use it more often. Anyway, I was wondering how to incorporate music into our lessons and how to use it in a motivating way. It seems like such a great resource that is not used enough.
Are there any resources to help link certain music/songs with certain subject areas?? Is Jason going to post the website that he spoke of in class??

I'm assuming that these are the two links your looking for. Atleast they are the two that Jason put forth in that day's class. Hope its of help!

If you google, just type in:

-centre for political song
-teach with music.ca
