what is the difference between social studies and social studies enriched?

i have just been informed that i am teaching socials 9 enriched, so i thought others may be interested in this if they are teaching enriched at some point.

What are the main differences between the Enriched courses and the regular Academic courses?

The courses for the program have been adapted so that they are appropriate to the needs of the enriched students. This does not necessarily mean a heavier workload. Curriculum material is generally presented at a quicker pace, and with more depth and breadth. The teacher attempts to allow for more time on personal enrichment activities and more varied and challenging learning opportunities.
