Teachers for Social Justice

Dear All,

Check out the following link on Social Justice.  The curriculum is very interesting and has a wide range of activities that could be used in an upper level social studies class.  With the rise in violent action around the world, young students need to have some exposure and understanding of what oppression means and the roots of violence in today's society.  To, me it's all about instilling compassion and understanding in young people.  According to the document

"Through this curriculum, we want to challenge youth to think about a) the roots of violence in their lives; b) the enforcers and victims of violence; c) the effects of violence on both victims and perpetrators; and d) how violence can ultimately be minimized through systemic changes."
