Imagine a class that is relative to what is happening now in our world. Apparently, this course is the only of its kind in BC. It is an elective at Claremont Secondary here in Victoria.
This is a nine part series on youtube. The story is told through a young girls eyes as she grows up in our changing world. Interestingly, this story speculates on all the happinings, or possibilities for our future. go to youtube and type in Earth 2100. Enjoy.

Kim, this video is rad. I'm addicted to it already. I don't have the time to sit and watch all 9 series right now, but I definitely will be doing it. I also recommend that others take a look at it as well!
This could be used in a classroom to create some understanding of the possibilities of our future, and how students can play their own part to help fix the outcome. The video does stress that it's not a prediction, but a possibility if things do not change. That makes things so real for students. I think that this could be used to help create a big picture for the students and then involve them in changing their own futures.
This could be related to the activity we did in class on Tuesday where we wrote world and life events as a group on the chalkboard. The activity showed us how we, as students, do not relate our actions to the possible futures for our world. This video can be used to focus some of those ideas and help us create an understanding for our students of how their actions today can better our tomorrow.
love it.
additionally, if you check out the video you should read some of the comments posted under the first video.
It's interesting to see the solutions people come up with to this video.
