For those who are still cruising this site may I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
"Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. It is a true life account of Greg Mortenson's journey to bring education to the rural and often forgotten areas of Pakistan and Afganistan. If you were moved to bring forth change and open doors for today's youth by Jason, I beg you then to please please read this book.
Hope you are all well and that the schools that you're in are providing you with the best opportunity to succeed.
Cheers
Andrea Robertson

Killing of an insurgent
Linked are few details concerning the killing of an unarmed insurgent in Afghanistan. The military is claiming that the Canadian soldier killed the unarmed insurgent out of mercy (his wounds were severe). However, the body was never removed from the sight and left raising questions about the legitimacy surrounding the claims of the original wounds sustained by the insurgent. Either way, and disregarding bias in reporting, this incident leads into an interesting ethical debate that can lead from mercy killing to assisted suicide. The soldier is currently pending bail, and will be tried. Interesting for arguing and slippery slope questions.

WWII and unit plans
Is anyone interested in swapping lesson plans/unit plans? I'm teaching SS 11 and am delving into WWII first thing. I can offer a unit on geography and enough good fun on the Cold War to sink a small ship in exchange.
Thanks!
Thanks!
